Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll. This film is under the work’s since 2004. No wonder it didn’t sell back then, from what I saw from the trailer, the film is gonna be really weird. Manson has recently talked about returning to the project he abandoned four years ago. Lily Cole was originally cast as Alice, alongside Tilda Swinton and Evan Rachel Wood. Lily Cole is great, you might recognize her from Heath Ledger‘s last film The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus.

The plot of the film: Victorian England. A haunted writer in an isolated castle is tormented by sleepless nights and visions of a girl named Alice. He finds himself becoming a symptom of his own invention. “Now all my nightmares know my name.” He is Lewis Carroll. Terrified of what waits for him each night.

As for the trailer, what I saw was a pornographic video with quick-cuts and blood with cool music and some really weirdness in it(I know I sound dumb). But I will definitely watch this film no matter what I think about it. As for one, Marilyn Manson is really good when it comes to music and I like his theatricality. Maybe a kick-ass soundtrack!?

According to, “This teaser also features real-life twin sisters engaging in questionable acts and burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese in artistic, full-nude. The figure in the medical mask is artist Gottfried Helnwein and the bird-face masked character and white gloved Lewis Carroll impresario, is Marilyn Manson.”

Check it out and what do ya think?

Director: Nick Cohen.
Cast: Anna Brewster(the only one I cared for).

Synopsis: A weekend boating party turns into a nightmare for a group of young Londoners when they stumble upon a terrifying secret hidden in the reeds.

The Good

Reeds, as the name suggests. The boat going though the reeds, wind shaking them gave a creepy atmosphere to the film. It was all….motivating(if that helps).

The only actor I liked, Anna Brewster was good in this. Not that she was really good. Just average, same as the other actors. But her hot british accent makes her a winner.

The mystery we see getting build up was really good, thanks to the director. It’s like when stuff is going, you engage to it. The mystery kept building and left me craving for the “big reveal”.

The Bad

You remember the mystery I was talking about? Well it was all ruined by, you know, our big reveal. Left me pissed off. I mean how the fuck do you ruin a decent effort right there?

The movie was a mess, we see scattered incidents that I hoped will be sued together by the end. It was a disappointment, it was a mess and the plot was all over the place. And at times, really predictable.

I cannot but compare it to ‘Triangle'(which btw was great). They do cross same path and the stuff in ‘The Reeds’ were just stupid.

I would suggest you to skip the film. It will only leave a bitter taste. I can say that the director could’ve done a better job with some more money and a better script but this just didn’t work out well. This is a 3.5/10 for me.

Director: Martin Scorsese.Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Jackie Earle Haley.

Yet another disappointment. Not that the movie was bad, to be fair it was great. But it just didn’t satisfy me as much as I wanted it to.

Synopsis: Umm….2 federal marshalls are to investigate the disappearance of a woman from a “mental hospital for the criminally insane”. As the investigation moves forward…everything else goes beyond retarded(seriously, the movie twists and turns every 15 minutes so there is no way of a proper synopsis).

I loved the classy look of the film. And the acting’s amazing which I dont think I need to mention. Leo, as always nails his role. I never really was a fan of Ruffalo but in this film he convinced me he’s a good actor. Now, I love Scorses(who doesn’t) but I’d like to take a moment here to say ‘fuck you’ to him. Why would he misuse Haley like that? Haley was amazing with his role but he was there for like 4 minutes?

The premise of the film had potential(and it quite succeeded), the set-up was good. Now what bothered me was twists and turns. Yes, the movie was thoroughly unpredictable but “I” think I needed a little more time to swallow what I was provided before the film took a different turn. I was starting to adopt with a situation and bam! there was a new situation where I had to start over. **HUGE SPOILERS** The scene where Teddy(Leo) discovers the missing woman in the cave, had some conversation which I thought was crucial to the plot and the next moment I found out it was a trickery of his mind.**END OF SPOILERS** And this was really hard to keep up with.

So yeah, basically this is what I have to say. I liked the movie and all but it didn’t live up to the expectations I had. I probably would’ve liked it a little more if it was 15 minutes longer. Shutter Island is 7/10 for me.

Director: Stephen Cragg.

Cast: Austin Highsmith, Ryan Doom.

I’m not about to waste my time giving this a proper review. It just sucks. The movie is about a young woman who’s moving to a new place, and once she is there, the people who lives around that building just acts crazy and weird shit happen all around. She is basically screwed and is dying to know the answers. Yep, that’s pretty much it. It’s supposed to be horror movie but filled with awkward pointless conversations, unnecesary sex scenes and stuff. The lead girl carried the whole film, she was really good and needs to do more genre work. Anyways, still the mystery was on so despite it being boring, I really wanted to see how it all comes together and guess what, I was totally disappointed. I did not get the point of the climax and that was the only thing why I kept watching this film. Overall, it’s pure crap. I’d advise you to stay away from it by all means. This deserves a solid D from me.

Director: Oren Peli.

Cast: Katie Featherson, Micah Sloat.

So, I avoided this movie until now, because frankly the marketing stuff looked lame to me. But I couldn’t help myself checking out what all the fuss was about. I’m glad I watched it though. Not that it’s as great as people saying it is, but it was good on it’s own right. Okay, now screw the people who said it was the scariest movie of all time. I remember only being scared once, the ending, when THAT suddenly happened. But that isn’t even the best part of Paranormal Activity. I think, the best thing about it is the creepiness we see throughout. I know what I’m saying doesn’t sound much heavy but this creepiness is really something to talk about. And those night video-scenes were great. The thing I was afraid of most before watching it was I thought I’d fall asleep. Good god, I didn’t. Yes, the pacing was slow but it never got boring. And I really liked that psychic bit, it was cool. So here are the good stuff.

Now, I don’t know about anybody else but I sure as hell ain’t taunting a demon when I know IT IS ACTUALLY A DEMON! Micah, dude, I understand you love your girlfriend so much that you won’t leave her even when all this creepy shit is happening, but, WHY FUCK WITH THE DEMON?!?

Paranormal Activity is, by definition, a good movie. I understand why so many people love it and hate it at the same time. I’m kinda in the middle, you see, I think it’s a pretty forgettable film but when I look at the budget, the actors, director and other technical stuff, this looks like a master-piece to me.

Next up, is ‘The Fourth Kind’!!!

Director: Christopher Smith(Creep & Severance).

Cast: Melissa George, Liam Hemsworth, Michael Dorman.

What’s It About

A worthless mommy(Melissa George) who sucks at taking care of her child, and likes to sail overboard with her man-friends(I ain’t sure if this word exists 😐 ) finds herself in a shitload of trouble when the yacht she sailed in hits a storm and is forced to board a ocean liner to get to safety. And apparently, she feels like she knows this place and more than everything, there is a lonely killer onboard.

The Pros

The premise of the whole movie is splendid. To avoid spoilers, I’m not elaborating much but it’s pretty interesting. Add some good acting and direction with that and obviously you’ll get a decent enough movie. I’m not that familiar with Melissa George but she did an outstanding job in this film. Michael Dorman and Liam Hemsworth backed her up in a good way.

This movie made me think. And there is these WTF moments that caught me off guard, and at some scenes I was like HOLY SHIT!  and I kept wondering what’s gonna happen next. The action is pretty neat and done in a nice way. There’s these moments when I didn’t know what’s going on and BOOM! Shotgun violence, the terror, the building-up tension, everything just worked for me.

I love angry ocean. When the mighty blue ocean is pissed and is ready to kick any sorts of ship’s ass, I find myself satisfied. In here, the director did a great job visualizing this scene.

I know, what the fuck, right? Not Really, this is nothing compared to what’s coming.

The Cons

So, what’s the point then? The ending revealed us the mystery but what’s the point?

So, they are stuck in a time period and the whole thing is repeating over and over again. What happens to the rest of the world? What happens to the other people around who knows about them? I found myself very unsatisfied with the ending and was expecting a REAL SOLUTION. And there wasn’t any. This bothers me whenever I think of the movie.

No gore. Quite a good amount of action movie type violence. No REAL nudity but Melissa George has got a nice pair of legs.

A very entertaining movie that kept me at the edge of my seat. The ending left me blank and asking for more. Great nonetheless. I’ll give this a 7 out of 10.

After watching for the second and third time, I picked up all the crazy little details and guess what, IMO, it deserves a 8.5/10 (A).

Reviews Pending.
